It's October!

There are many things happening this month in Language Arts and Social Studies. We have started our character pumpkin projects! Last week in art we broke up into small groups, and we started painting and decorating our pumpkins. In the classroom, we will be working on developing our composition papers, and we will use the writing process. Stay tuned for pictures!!!

This month in social studies we will be discussing the major regions and landforms. We will identify climate, resources and major cities in these regions. In the next weeks, we also will start to explore ancient people and their trade resources. By the end of the month we will have compared life before and after the Ice Age.

Please continue to monitor daily reading and writing. We will continue to practice grammar, and apply grammar usage in our writing process.

What an AWESOME start to the year!

We are off to a great start! We have spent the past couple of weeks getting to know one another and we are all very excited for the school year. I am so very happy to be in 4th grade this year!

In language arts we have been discussing what it means to be a good reader. We talked about picking "good fit" books and using our inner voice while reading, to gain a better understanding of what we are reading and why. Our goal is to continue to expand our knowledge and comprehension with the books we select to read.

This week we will begin identifying the 6 traits of writing and will continue exploring grammar components. I enjoy reading the nightly writing homework and can't wait to see the writing develop over the year.

Stay tuned for pictures to see what's going on in class!
